Sanders

sanders

The first power tool I bought was the sander shown on the middle. Does it looks that old? Craftsman! It has endured slavery and still works as the same day I brought it home. The sanders were my first tools and were used precisely in the wrong way! To sand away large amounts of hardened fiberglass and shape prototypes and parts.

Today I use the finishing sander to remove and shape small Bondo fillings, but specially to sand the painting with a very fine grain sanding paper. The paint shines after sanding it with a 600 and then with a 1000!

The belt sander (shown on the left) I use to shape wood, fiberglass and large Bondo fillings. Unfortunately it is very uncomfortable to grab the sander with one hand and the part with the other. My advice is to buy a table disc sander. They often come in a combo with a disc and a belt sander. I just haven't seen one that I like. The Craftsman version of this tool has not convinced me and I am not going to spend money on the Central Machinery sold on Harbor Freight tools. It would be like gambling!

The detail sander (shown on the right) I don't like. It is very hard to maneuver since the body vibrates like hell and the head (that is supposed to be vibrating and sanding) does nothing! And I am not a pathetic weak! I have to admit that it is not a Craftsman tool but a Sears brand. I decided not to spend $20.00 more. Big mistake!!!
